Should I take the March SAT?

Hey Guys,
So I took the January SAT and I got a 2110. My breakdown was 800 in Math, 720 in Writing, and 590 in Critical Reading (My weak area, unfortunately). I'm really nervous about taking the SAT again because I know that if I do worse, it'll look reallyyy bad. Any suggestions?
And just incase I do decide to take it, can anyone give me tips on what to do to raise my critical reading score? I'm having trouble with the passages more than the vocabulary words. I'm starting to get the sentence completion down but the passages are just killing me :( I don't know what to do!
Thanks for the help! :)

Well if you feel your not prepared enough then don’t take it. But thats up to you.

To improve on the critical reading this is my advice (coming from someone who’s strength is the reading). Read each passage and understand every bit of it. Read slowly, don’t blow through it. If you don’t understand a part RE-READ IT. After obviously do the questions and always look back in the passage. Read around the area the question is referencing. The answer is there! Also don’t forget to read each question carefully, when between 2 answers look at the specific wording used in each.

Ohh I see, thanks for the tips! I have a question about what you said though…I always have difficulty in finishing the Critical Reading section so it’s kind of hard for me to read slowly. What should I do to increase my speed yet be accurate?

Well for me, I usually finish the sentence completion fairly quickly which gives me more time on the passages. I also finish right around the last second but everyone’s pacing is different.

Practice a lot before you take it again. June or next fall maybe? It’s going to take more than 2 weeks to raise your CR score but it’s doable!

Hmmm, okay thanks.
And for the sentence completions, any suggestions? I’m pretty sure I know a lot of the words, but are there any common words that I should for sure know?

If you aren’t signed up, sadly it is too late… :(

Honestly I don’t know. I read a lot and have a big vocabulary so I never felt the need to study more words. Try training yourself to use the other words in the sentence to help.

If you want a book with words, I believe Direct Hits is supposed to be the best

ghuskies,
Thanks! I’ve never heard of Direct Hits. Is it designed for Sat words?

fastsauce,
I’ve already signed up :)

I think it contains hundreds of typical sat words! Hope that helps.

Oh, I see. Do you know anywhere I can download the list without buying the book?

Not really, i bought the book recently and have gotten through a large portion of the 200 words. For some words it’s helpful, but i already knew a lot of the words (so far).

oh okay, so does this book just have the words and definitions or exercises as well?

It puts each vocab word in a paragraph that is related to current things such as movies and such. For example with the word unconventional they related it to Katy Perry and Lady gaga. It helps you remember the words better since you associate the word with what you read

ohhh dang thats cool! alright, ill definitely look into that. thanks! :)
