There are 23 days to sign up for the December SAT Subject Tests, and I am buying my book today. I am getting Princeton Review, but it might help to have some advice on others. I already took a class in Algebra 2, so I'm guessing I just need to learn Trigonometry and some basic Calculus and Precalculus for this test. If I get this book, do you think it is possible to start getting close to 800s on the Practice tests, and then would it be a good idea to take the test in December? Note, I have to start getting close to 800 in about 22 days, because the registration deadline is in 23 days, I think. Is this a good idea, or should I wait? I am taking the SAT in January, and you can't take the SAT and the SAT Subject Tests on the same date.

I am a high school Junior if that helps.

Also, I am really good at Physics, and I study it a lot on my free time. Do you think it would also be possible for me to study for the Physics test for December, or is that too insane? I just want to be able to see my score and judge whether or not I want to retake it. Since I want to major in Physics, I need my Math 1 and Physics scores to be at 800 or at least close. Math 1 has a horrible curve, so 780-800 would be good, but Physics should be an 800 because it is difficult, but it has a huge curve. I am also going to take the Math 2 later on in the year, maybe June or October of my senior year. US History I will also probably be taking in June.

You’ll have to learn some trig and pre-calculus, but there’s not a whole lot of new topics. No problems on the math subject tests require the use of calculus.

I know students of extremely varied mathematical background, so I can’t really predict whether you can score 800 in a certain amount of time or not. Some people can score 800 with no prep, others will take much more time. The best indicator is for you to look at a practice test and see how many of the problems you can solve.
