Should I take the SAT Reasoning or IIs on December 4th?

Since I received a score of 2110 (m/c/w:690/730/690) for the SAT in May of 2010 and a mathII/chem/lit score of 670/680/690 in November, I'm wondering whether or not to retake the IIs or the reasoning test. It is important to note, I feel, that I had no preparation for the subject tests or the reasoning tests, but I suspect that the reasoning test is designed against preparation.

If i take the reasoning test, I'd be aiming for at least a 2300 since i will prepare for the math and i won't lose track of time during the essay. If I retook the SAT IIs, I'd be shooting for an 800 in chemistry (should be easy enough) and a high 700 in literature.

I hope that this is enough information for an answer.

Thanks

I guess I would have to suggest the SATI if you really think you can get up to 2300. (WIthout adequate SATI scores, the SATII may be moot.)

The general impression is that the SATI is a very coachable test; buy review books and take practice tests every day until the 4th.

I have a princeton review book, but I heard that its tests are slightly easier than collegeboard’s are. Is my SAT I just average for Rice? I’d like a second or third opinion from other people as well.

Thanks for your reply, by the way.

OP, your scores are below average. Rice’s 25/75 SATI percentiles are on par with Harvard, Yale, and other top schools, so you do want to bump it up if you can. (See [Rice University | Undergraduate Admission: Future Owls](<a href=“Office of Admission | Rice University”>Office of Admission | Rice University) and [Yale University | Admissions Facts and Statistics](http://www.admissionsconsultants.com/college/yale.asp) and [Harvard University | Admissions Facts and Statistics](http://www.admissionsconsultants.com/college/harvard.asp)).

Good luck!

take whichever you are more confident in.

I have always been wondering… does Rice not look at writing section of SAT? I got the highest score on writing and do hope that count it.

They look at the writing section
