So, as you all probably know, SAT scores came out today. I'm not very satisfied with a 2010 with a goal of 2100 in mind. I certainly did increase a lot from my former score (1770, sigh) but I still want to improve by 100+. I'm not planning to apply for Ivies, but I am applying to Claremont McKenna and USC.

I have already signed up for the November SAT Math IIC. I took it twice before with horrible scores of 620 & 660. It's the only Subject test I need to retake, but I don't know if I should retake it the third time or just spend another $23 to retake my reasoning test for the third time.

The main question is: Should I spend $23 to switch my November Math IIC test to Reasoning, or should I keep my Reasoning score (2010) and focus on my application essays for admission?

What was the breakdown of your SAT scores? Writing seems the easiest to improve, then math and then reading. How many subject tests do you need to submit? Can you take a different subject test that you might do better on? I agree that people don't really retake the subject tests so it is going to look strange for you to retake it again.

igorawr, i was planning on doing the same thing... switching from math level 2 to sat reasoning for the november test. do you know how you go about doing this?

I know that Reasoning tests are definitely weighed more than Subject tests, but I'm not sure if I would be able to improve my score by 100 in one week if I change my November test. I was thinking about signing up for the December test, but I wanted to get everything done since most of my apps are due during December.

The main reason why I wanted to retake IIC was because I have already decided to declare a Business major, which places much emphasis on math. And with such low scores, it would look bad. My other two subject tests are just Mandarin and Bio. And being asian myself, mandarin doesn't really count. I guess I'll probably think about it and change the test type next week...
