I am set on transferring out of my college to the state university. It’s that time of the semester to meet with my advisor and choose classes for next semester. However, my advisor is also a teacher, and head of the program that I’m in. I am currently in one of his classes, and if for some reason I fail to transfer, I will have many more classes with him throughout my program.
Also, the university department/program that I want to transfer too only accepts applications for fall. Which means I will have to attend one more semester at this college. I want to make sure I take classes that will transfer over. I have made a list of classes that I think should be fine in this regard.
So, should I tell him that I want to transfer? I’m worried that If he starts to view me as a lost cause or something, that It could lead to difficulties in the second half of this semester, and my next.
But If I don’t tell him, and come with a pretty specific/tailored list of classes I want to take next semester, which are probably somewhat unusual to take at this point in my program, that could also lead to his suspicion or refusal.
As a little side note, I’m currently doing Software Engineering, but want to transfer to Computer Science. The SE program is pretty new to this college, and will have its first bachelor degree graduates next year. There is only about 30 something students in this SE program total, so I imagine he won’t be too excited to see me leave…
What do you all think? Thanks in advance!
