Are you from the South? Just curious. We are not from the east coast. D1 goes to a school out east and D2 at Cornell. Both mention that the culture is a bit hard to get used to at first, but it’s all good for them now.
You picked Cornell for a reason and you are lucky to be there. Sometimes when you are least expecting it, great things come your way. You say you are super involved, so I’m guessing that in time you will cultivate good friendships.
I just re-read your first post, OP, and noticed that you said you talk to your friends at your old school almost every day. With social media, it so easy to stay close to old friends, but at college it can work against you. My D has had to cut down the frequency of her chats with high school friends so she could put more effort into nurturing her new friendships at Cornell.
Also, this can be a tough time of the school year for friendships. My sophomore D has been swamped with prelims and projects, and hasn’t had a chance to do much socializing at all. Fall break is this weekend, so I’m betting you’ll find people are in a more social mood when they get back to campus next Wednesday.
Finally, it’s great that your grades are good and you’re involved in clubs. Many kids at Cornell struggle with the rigor and coursework, especially sophomore year, as other CC’s have mentioned. So congrats on doing such a good job so far this year!
