Currently attending Oregon State University but thinking about transferring to either UC Davis or UCLA for in-state tuition and to be closer to home (Bay Area). Is it worth it and is there a better level of education and career preparedness at either or both universities? Are there other universities with better enviro sci programs closer to home and cheaper? I’m pretty happy here, but I would transfer if I felt like it was worth it.
Hey! I’m no professional or anything but I’m actually in a similar situation! I currently attend UCR and I’m thinking of transferring to another UC (specifically UCSC) because I think they have a better program for Environmental Studies (and because I’m quite frankly in love with the school). I know you said Environmental Science but I know for a fact that the Environmental Studies program at UCSC is phenomenal and the school is gorgeous. It would also be easier to transfer to as you are coming from an out of state university. It’s ultimately up to you and what makes you feel happy, but of course, finances are always something to be aware of. I think you should take the shot and apply to the UCs if you get an application fee waiver, there’s nothing to lose!
