I applied for fall 2017 and am very anxious as to what each of the schools are going to say. I have gotten into CSULB, HSU, SFSU, SJSU, UCD, and UCR. My gpa is at a 3.33. For UCLA my first major was Earth and Environmental Science, and when I looked through their profile of admitted students there isn’t as many student that apply for that major, so I think that could help me since it means less competition. For UCSB I picked Environmental Science (BS). I don’t really have any EC’s. I worked on my papers since summer knowing it would be the only thing that would help me. I included working full time, and being a caretaker for my grandma, and how it takes up a lot of my time. I’m hoping that when they said they look at applications holistically they really meant it but what do you guys think. Help a fellow student out, thanks. And please be brutually honest.
Also Hispanic, gay, and low income family from Compton if that helps
How do you know youre UCD and UCR? I assume UCD is TAG. Did UCR start rolling out notifications?
UC’s do not consider race/sexual orientation in their admission decisions. Having a disadvantaged socioeconomic background yes.
@Ohm888 Yes UCD is because of TAG and UCR already starting rolling out their admission decisions.
@Gumbymom so yeah I would say that’s the only thing I have going for me
@Brandonbarbecue I thought on the UCR thread those admits were noted as glitches. Be sure to recheck.

@Ohm888 oh then I take back my previous statement about riverside, my apologies.
@Brandonbarbecue No transfer decisions have been made yet. Freshman students that called in last week and were told they got in have now received official rejections. What an embarrassment for UCR.
@enpz45 Actually some are up (supposedly). The UCRadmissions twitter feed said some have been admitted as of yesterday - or maybe I’m reading it wrong. Yeah, it was screwed up for like a week. Really bad for anyone who later does not get admitted.
@Ohm888 Who knows…I’m going off of what I’ve seen on the transfer thread and when I called the office earlier this week. I’ve lost faith in any info you get from the admissions department at this point. First Miss Universe, then La La Land, now UCR lots of switch-a-roo’s.
@enpz45 FAKE NEWS!! lol
@Ohm888 SAD!
@Ohm888 @enpz45 so going back to the first question, how likely would my chances be fore UCSB or UCLA?
@Brandonbarbecue I think 3.3 might be putting you on the outside looking in but since you’re Hispanic, gay, low income, and from Compton they may not judge you by your grades.
@enpz45 so basically my paper will make me or break me at this point
@enpz45 so basically my paper will make me or break me at this point
@ I don’t think your paper will make or break you. I think if you have a stellar essay it can overcome some deficiencies…this is a great chart to play around with to see GPA’s that is school and major specific.]]https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
Yeah for UCSB I’m in the middle of the gpas that they accept and for UCLA I’m under the average gpa that they accept by .2/.3 so I think UCSB is a maybe but I’m not very confident about UCLA especially after they released their freshman decisions this week @enpz45
