I am in community college right now. I like my school a lot, but I simultaneously feel an urge to get on with my college experience and finally move away to school like many have already done. I am in the Honors Program at my community college, which requires me to get my Associates Degree before transferring. I am about to enter my 3rd semester for this upcoming Spring (I didn't go to CC right away after finishing high school, so I'm a semester behind). I still need 28 more credits to graduate. If I plan to be at a 4-year school this upcoming Fall, I will need to take 18 credits this Spring (the most I've ever done is 14) and then take 10 more credits over the summer. I definitely think I'm capable of a 4.0 with 18 credits, but I will probably feel stressed a lot because of such a big course load. If I go to a 4 year school next Spring or a year from this upcoming Fall however, I can space out my credits and only take 12 credits this Spring and not have to take any Summer courses. As I said before, I do enjoy my school and I have made many friends here, but I also want to finally have the "college experience" away from home. My top choice is U of Penn. I have a 3.8 GPA and am in Phi Theta Kappa and some other clubs at my school. I also work part time. I can't make up my mind. From anyone's personal experiences, what do you believe is my best option?

Spring transfer admissions at UPenn is practically non-existent. I got in from high school, but didn’t really care for it given my circumstances.

I work best when I’m under a whole lot of pressure, ironically. 18-credits is usually light-work for me.

If you don’t mind taking the 18 credits and are confident that you can maintain a 4.0 that term then go for it. Isn’t the usual course load at UPenn between 15 and 18 credits? It would definitely show that you can manage the load. Streamline your habits if you need to and you’ll be fine.

Good luck!

I’m in the same situation right now. I couldn’t decide. But I feel like I just need to get going. Did you put in your application yet?
