Should I transfer to Baruch college from Queens College for an economics degree?

First let my say that I'm asking a lot from you all so please try to help in whatever you can.
Hi, I'm a sophomore at queens college and have been wondering if I'm at the wrong college for what I am planning to study? Queens college is a very nice college but more oriented towards psychology and biology and I hear people always talking about Baruch for anything business related. I think economics is the most interesting class for me because I can find myself doing homework and enjoying myself ( to an extent) while reading the text or articles and I like to engage in discussions over policy or business matters. I have talked to the department and they have told me that QC is just as good if not better but I think it's because of their bias. I consider myself a good student and I don't like to brag about it but I maintain a very high gpa and work diligently so if Baruch is more difficult I'm up for the challenge. However I hear it's competitive so is Baruch really that bad? Also my teachers told me I need a lot of math but I'm in integration calculus and it is demanding for me so to you experienced business economics majors how important is this calculus?
I'm interested in the supply and demand economics as well as the elasticity part but I have only taken micro and macro so that can change, but I see myself being more drawn to consumer economics so any ideas on going in to something like that.
Lastly I would like to ask if this economics major is a good investment or should I do something else in the business world? I want to be able to use what I learn and engage productively in achieving a goal whatever that may be and economics may be a tad to theoretical for that or tedious because I like to be with people and talk and all the people in the econ dept were on computers and it was silence.
I said a lot mostly because I'm at that age where I feel that every decision I make will drastically influence my future even though I know it won't since I'm still young but I can't help it. If you have any advice I would really appreciate it!

*also any ideas of how to get a career started or career guidelines would be great!

Honestly, both schools don’t have a strong cache regarding their economics offerings, but Baruch might be slightly better…and I do mean only slightly. I would NOT transfer to Baruch just for their economics offerings. If you wanted something akin to accounting then I might suggest transferring.

I would say that Baruch is better. Queens College is not as heavily recruited as Baruch College for banking and government jobs, but there is a high competition among Baruch students for those positions.

In terms of education, they are nearly the same. I hear that QC’s accounting is slightly easier because their courses (especially cost accounting) are a bit easier. Also, the professors are a bit more helpful and friendly. For economics, I can’t really say much because I don’t know anyone who graduated from QC with their degree in economics. I would guess not many do because their course listings beyond econ101&102 aren’t many.

However, to offset this, Baruch has much more recruiting going on than QC. There are many more business events and possible networking opportunities than QC. That isn’t to say that QC doesn’t offer any, but I would say there are fewer per semester. I would guess QC has maybe 5 business guest speakers or representatives per semester, whereas Baruch can have as many as 20 a semester.

Yes, Baruch is more competitive. However, you’re going into business. If you didn’t see competition coming, then there’s a bigger problem.

Overall, I think you should stay at QC if you plan on going straight to grad school. I assume you take one bus and/or walk there, so it’ll save you time from traveling 1.5-2 hours every day. Don’t forget about those damn signal problems on the 7 train either! If you plan on trying to work right after graduation, then I suggest transferring to Baruch only if you have trouble networking or aren’t aggressive.

I transferred from QC to Baruch this semester, in case you question my advice.
