Hello, I'm currently a first-year student at the Michigan Technological University, or Michigan Tech, which is located in Michigan's upper peninsula.

I am local to East Lansing, Michigan and Michigan State University, but decided I wanted to "get away" and be adventurous by going to college somewhere far away, with nerdy people like me. Michigan Tech seemed like the perfect fit, even if I wasn't majoring in engineering, the school's most prestigious academic feature. However, I would later come to regret my decision.

The more time I spend at Tech, the more I to dislike the variety of students. Everyone is too nerdy, too weird and too similar. The diversity of the student population is very poor. All the students are very alike in terms of their mindset, goals, and academic talents. I miss the diversity of East Lansing, where the variety of people is astounding. At Michigan State, people from all types of backgrounds who share all types of interests and skills combine to form one of the most diverse student bodies in the world. Until I left East Lansing, I did not realize how important this quality was to an academic environment.

I now have to decide whether or not I want to transfer back to my hometown school and leave all the friends and connections I've made at Tech, or stay at a school that may not provide the adequate learning environment for me.

If anyone can offer any advice for my situation, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)
