Should I transfer to NC State?

I am currently a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill, and I deciding whether or not I want to transfer to NCSU. Coming out of high school, I was accepted into both colleges, but I chose to go to UNC without really considering State because of UNC’s journalism program. Since then, I have decided that I no longer want to do journalism, and I have changed my major to statistics.

Now that I’m 1.5 years into my education at UNC, I have come to the realization that I do not like the school. The statistics program is very small, I do not like the town of Chapel Hill, and I get very homesick even though Chapel Hill is only 30-45 minutes away from my hometown (Raleigh).

I was wondering if anyone could give me insight on what the statistics program is like at State and what campus life is like in general. Also, if anyone has transferred from UNC to State and could share about their experience, that would be great.

As of right now, I think it would make a lot of sense for me to transfer to NC State, but I have concerns about whether or not the grass just looks greener on the other side.

Well I personally visit the campus many of times to visit friends and being an upcoming transfer sophomore. I have a friend that is majoring in Stat right now in NC State. He said he couldn’t be even happier. The program is very beneficial to many students because the students does help one other. My friend used rate my professor to make sure he gets a teacher that is reasonable. Of course like every school you will have to study but in the long run it will be worth it. NC State is one of the best school in NC for engineering and math. Sure UNC may seem like everyone choice but NC State program is simply better for engineering and math. Since your taking statistics I will used probability for you. The main reason why people go to UNC is for their business school and medicine. I have one friend that went to UNC for Stat and he hates it because the environment is small like you mention. So the probability of you like NC State is higher because it is simply more organized than UNC. If you need anymore detail insight let me know.
