Should I transfer to Stern?

So I have by tomorrow to decide because I have to send everything in before I leave for Australia on Monday for the summer...
So I posted this somewhere else but didn't get much response...
I currently attend Barnard and hated it first semester. I now have met a group of friends, but still do not like the idea of graduating from a womens college. I know I want to go into business, would I be taking a step down by transferring to Stern (I've already been accepted)? I love downtown and NYU, I just don't want to mess it up and try and fix something that's not broken.

Additionally, most of my friends are rising seniors, so I don't really want to make my decision based on a group of people who will leave me up in Harlem by myself after next year anyways

Also, is it harder to get into prestigious MBA programs coming from undergraduate business schools?

I have alot to think about...any input on Barnard or Stern would be great!

Stern is going to offer much better opportunities for business than Barnard. It’s considered to be a target school for investment banking and management consulting. Stern certainly isn’t a step down; it’s quite the opposite.

MBA programs (as far as I understand) care much more about work experience than undergraduate major. Stern will give you that better work experience.

Thank you for your response…as of now I’m heavily leaning towards Stern. It’s just sort of scary to leave all my friends and start over for a second time (Even though I’ll still be in the city), it’s just a way different school environment.

Yeah, those ARE two very different school environments. If I were you I would make sure I would be able to handle the NYU atmosphere - you would be going to the comfort of a campus and sense of community to…NYU. Not to say it’s a bad thing - many people enjoy it, it’s just not right for some people.

If you hated Barnard, that’s a legit reason to transfer, do what’s best for you! NYU is better for business so anyways it’s better for your major.

Ya it’s not the environment I’m hesitant about. I truly love everything about NYU. It’s really just about starting over and being unsure
Thanks for your response, if anyone has any input on Stern don’t hesitate!

bummmmpppp
