Should I transfer?

I am currently a freshman attending a private 4-year university in the LA-area. I love how small the school is, the suburban town surrounding the school and the academics. From what I hear from other students (upper and lower division) the school is good and its worth the money. My only complaint is that it is far away from home. I did not think the distance was bad in the beginning but as the semester continues, I am struggling to deal with the distance. I am not sure if it is worth the headache to try to transfer somewhere closer to home.

To those of you who have transferred to another school (specifically a private university to either another private or CSU), is it worth it? Did your credits transfer? My advisor has put me on track to graduate in 3 years (I’m planning on taking summer courses), so would it not allow me to keep that same plan?

Is this Chapman?

Anyway, you could try and transfer, but maybe you should give it to the end of the year to decide.

@lindyk8 No, I attend University of La Verne. I am going to finish the rest of the year, but I wonder if I should start applying places in case I do want to transfer because the process will take some time.

Only you can make that decision. Just know, it is not uncommon to feel homesickness the first term, and sometimes part of the second. Since you’re saying you like the school and can graduate in three years, maybe there’s a way you can fly home more often or have your family come see you a bit more. It sounds like the school is a good fit.
