Hello, I am about to finish my second year at Texas A&M and I like being an industrial engineering major there. However, I don’t really like how big the school is or the largely populated student body. I just don’t feel I fit in with the environment and I’m feeling not as happy as I should be. Would I be crazy to see if I could transfer to SMU even though the engr dept isn’t as good? Or I could switch to business. Family lives near Dallas and the city just feels like home, and I just feel isolated sometimes down in College Station. I don’t know if that’s common, or I’m just not doing it right, or if I should just go with the flow and stay. Any advice?
I’ll be in the middle of my junior year if I decide to transfer.

Most colleges require that a student be on campus 2 years in order to get a diploma so you would need to research that.
smu just requires 60 hours which you can get done with a few summer, may and January classes and still be done in a full four years. I understand the issue I have made friends that have transfered to smu and that have transfered out of smu to be closer to home. Many people all over prefer it and it is normal. I would contact the admissions office at smu and say you are considering a transfer ask about scholarships and if there are other transfers in your shoes that you could talk with. hope this helps message me if you have any further questions, and i will try to respond though im not always on here.
