There are three things that I’ve been looking for in a college

Academic ‘prestige’

Low Costs

Small class sizes

As it were, I’ve not been able to find all three in any one college-- everyone I’ve looked at happens to meet only two requirments. The one I’m at now has small class sizes and low costs, but is a ‘tier 4’ school and isn’t known as a highly prestigous school or anything.

For me personally, this is fine. I love the school and don’t feel as though I have to go to an amazing school to ‘prove myself’. I mean, I got good grades in high school and graduated with honors, took a few AP classes and have done extra-curriculars. In college, I’m doing well and plan on going through their honors program and have continued with many of the extra-curriculars that I did in High School and have even added a few more.

My only concern in employment. Does attending a lower ranking school hurt your chances for employment? Or, to be more specific, does it hurt your chances of employment in the Publishing field?

I’m majoring in English and I want to go on to work in Publishing, which I realize can be a fairly competitive job market. But as long as I keep up my grades would the school I attend matter?

Basically, I’m wondering if it would be better to transfer to IU-- Bloomington or Purdue? Being from Indiana, I would get in-state tuition, which isn’t much higher than the tuition I’m paying now. You get the ‘prestige’ that comes with these schools, but I would lose out on the ‘small school atmosphere’ that I get with my current college. I just feel as though I would be totally lost in such a large campus.

Does anyone have any experience with the publishing field to know how much emphasis is placed on the school attended?
