Should I update colleges with this new information?

Hey guys I'm a regular decision applicant and class of 2014. I am patiently waiting for decision time near the end of march and beginning of april.

The thing is I have been very involved with research over the course of my high school career. I made sure to state on my common application additional information that a paper I was involved with has been submitted and I sent a research abstract to all of the schools I applied to.

Today my research mentor notified me that our project was submitted to ASTRO, the American Society for Radiation Oncology, for its annual conference. This annual meeting is the premier radiation oncology scientific event in the world and I beleive it is extremely prestigious. I was wondering whether or not I should update colleges with the fact that my paper has been submitted to ASTRO? It hasn't been accepted and simply been submitted so what do you guys think?

My leaning is simply being submitted but not accepted is not worthy of an update. It’s like a writer who has submitted drafts to publishers but hasn’t heard back yet or a musician who has gone to several auditions – see what I mean?

I agree with @T26E4. Simply being submitted is not worthy of an update. If it was chosen to be read/discussed or something like that at the meeting, then that would be deserving of an update.
