As stated in title, should I wait until I see if I got accepted into my ED school before submitting my RD apps? I hear it's better to submit apps early, but I think it'd be a waste of money to use $300-400 on RD app fees.

I would have everything ready to go, then submit if you don’t get in ED. Do not wait until after ED decision to work on your RD, not even if it means to do a little bit of touch up to those applications and essays. My daughter was so distraught after the ED decision, it took her some time to pick herself up to work on her RD apps. I would wait to submit to save application fees.

Agreed. Just be sure that you’ve researched the RD dates so they don’t blow by. It’s also not just the money. You could submit and be accepted forcing someone else to be deferred when they could have received much better news, much earlier.

I generally agree that you should wait, to save app fees. However, if you are applying to any schools with rolling admissions, you should go ahead and apply to those, as you will have a better shot if you apply earlier. However, for schools with a single RD deadline, as long as you apply by that deadline you’re fine – when you get the app in shouldn’t make a different.

I would apply to one or two now (in addition to the ED school. Probably your safety/ties so you know you’re still in SOMEWHERE and rolling admits.) Everywhere else can probably wait.
