Should students buy their textbooks now?

<p>In order to save money, I was going to order my textbooks from a website other than the NYU Bookstore. I want to allow up to 2 weeks for shipping, so I want to order the books ASAP. Is it wise to order books ahead of time? I just don't want to have to buy books and then not have the professor use them. I'm in LSP, if that makes a difference.</p>

<p>The NYU Bookstore is taking no responsibility if you purchase books from another store. They even say,
"Information on this listing is provided by NYU Academic Departments. If information for a particular course is missing, the department has not yet provided the book list.
As faculty send us their book lists, the Bookstore will update this database to reflect current information. This means books may be added or subtracted from the list at any time.
Changes may result from section changes, faculty changes, new book editions, titles going out of print, publisher upgrades, class cancellations or many other reasons.
Students who purchase books from the NYU Bookstores are eligible for a refund if book information changes occur, consistent with our current Textbook Refund Policy.
PLEASE NOTE: If materials for any course change, and a student has purchased them from a source other than the NYU Bookstore, the NYU Bookstore will not be responsible in any way."</p>

<p>When I searched for books on the NYU Bookstore website, only 2 of my 4 classes have books listed. I assume Writing doesn't have books and the other prof just hasven't submitted a list of books yet? So should I buy the books for these 2 classes? I don't want to wait all the way until the first week of classes because then I'll have to buy the books at very high prices from the NYU Bookstore, and they're a likelihood of the books being sold out too.</p>

<p>Should I buy the books, or not? Any advice from upperclassmen or anyone else with knowledge is appreciated!</p>

<p>I am about to start as a graduate student at NYU and I ordered my books like a month ago. 99% of the time the book list never changes (in my experience). You save a lot of money ordering your books online from amazon or half.com. I would order the ones that are listed now and just continue to check for any new books that get posted.</p>
