Should the application essay be double spaced?

yes or no?

No essays should not be double spaced. When an application talks about an essay being "page length" it is generally referring to single spaced, 12pt, Times New Roman.

Even when essays give a word length requirement and not page length it should still be single spaced.

At least that is what my counselors told me.

no (10 char)

I submitted most of my essays in 1.5 space or double-spaced. Maybe I made the wrong choice... I'll let you know in April.

My guess is they like standard 12 pt font single-spaced times new roman..

but hey,

what does - 10 char - mean?

make sure it fits on one-page, thats the rule of thumb

I double-spaced my essays, just because it's apparently easier on the eyes.

10 char or 10 chars is what you type when you need to meet the character requirement in your post... so if you just wanna say something like "Yes" or "No", it fills the space up.
