Should the SAT and ACT both be taken several times?

I have taken the ACT twice. The first time I got a 31, and a few weeks ago I got a 34. I'm still going to try for a 36.
I've taken the SAT once, outside of school. It was agonizing. Instead of the 3-4 hours the ACT takes, it took 5 1/2 hours when I took it. There were breaks, sure, but the test seemed incredibly long, too long to take several times. And I don't even know what my SAT score was, but it was very good.
Anyway, the point is, now that I've done well on the ACT, is it worth taking the SAT to send the scores to colleges? The only time I took it outside of school was in eighth grade, and I don't want to go through that test again and again until my scores are as good as they can be. Do I still need the SAT?

No, I would suggest just sticking to the ACT. You have done well on the ACT, and have been able to improve quite a bit so I would focus on one test. Your time will be spent much more efficiently if you continue to study for the ACT, instead of trying to learn an entire new test. That would be a waste of time, imo.
