So here's the deal. I got waitlisted at Villanova University and I was crushed for a bit, but I got over it pretty quickly. I deposited at Fairfield University, which I'm not totally in love with. I like both schools equally (I think) and I'm sure I can do well at both.....So what should I do?

Villanova is a better school academically and I'm worried that I'll make a mistake by going to Fairfield. The name of your college follows you for a good part of your life. Also, I got a good scholarship at Fairfield, but I obviously didn't get anything at Villanova.

Did you clear the waitlist at Villanova? If not, there is no decision to make. You are set to go to Fairfield and V is not an option even until and if you get off the waitlist. Then you will have to decide if the difference is worth switching gears, especially if there are money concerns.

Yeah, i just got a phone call from nova, saying that I was accepted

Go to Nova bro. The sports, the campus, the academics. All make for a KILLER education. And to be honest, unless your family is in DIRE need of money (which i highly doubt since you wouldn’t really apply to private schools like this), think of this as investment in the future. Would you rather save a few grand and be unhappy for 4+ years or spend the extra few grand and be happy at awesome NOVA NATION :)

yeah thats what I was thinking. Did you go there/ are going there, Dleggio?

Nope. But my friends have visited and nova is one of his top schools. Its a great school, but not as strong in the compsci program as I have hoped.

A few things to consider:

-What is the price difference? How will you pay for Nova–student loans, work/study, out of your parents’ pockets? Can you pay this difference without being saddled with debt, and is it *worth *the extra money to you and your parents?

-Is the difference in quality of experience worth changing gears? Perhaps you’ve already gotten comfortable with the idea of Fairfield.

-Is it important for you to be at the top of your class or to be challenged by your peers? If you received a merit scholarship from Fairfield, you’re likely to be near the top of your class and privy to the privileges that come with it; at Villanova, it sounds like you may be middle-of-the-pack. That can be a great thing for someone who needs to be constantly stimulated by his peers but a demoralizing thing for someone who would prefer to be the big fish.
