<p>ppl have told me that the successful application contains essays which are focussed on your passions, eg. a particular EC which you are good at and enjoy. The problem is, can you go too far with this? As in, I've written three essays all on the same EC. is this alright or will i appear to have narrow interests?</p>

If is what you love, then you can write as many essays about it as you like.</p>
<p>I would not recommend submitting three essays on the same topic to the same college.</p>
