Showing personality in your application is good or not good?

In all my applications I sent out this year, I really showed my personality and what kind of person I am. My essays reflected my cheerful and playful side while at the same time they also displayed seriousness and maturity. I think my applications really convey who I am as a person and my principles. So now it's like 2 months into the application process and I'm wondering if it was a bad idea what I did. Do admissions officer appreciate this? Should I have just stuck to the bland, commonplace essay?

It's good.

But some people claim by being so straightforward with the admission officers, the admission officers would immediately know if one was was a fit at the school (which could be a plus or a minus). So in a way, I heard it could work either way against an applicant. Thanks for the reply though.

Look at it this way: if you aren't a good fit at the school, you do not want to go there anyways. Admissions officers probably know best who will be happy and successful at their school. I would argue that it is always good to show your personality since it is the only way to differentiate yourself from other applicants with similar stats.
