Shy, quiet student at a party school?

Hello,

I am an upcoming senior looking into colleges. I have some schools in mind but some are party schools (one being SDSU) and I am a quiet, shy, studious person. I’m afraid I won’t be able to find like-minded people and make friends at a party school with my personality.

Thanks!

SDSU’s reputation as a “party school” is at least 20 years past. Many things have changed there and if you want to party, you can find them off campus and if you do not want to party, no one will force you to participate. SDSU has a very diverse student body so there will many students that share your non-party mentality so do not let their past reputation scare you away.

Definitely consider visiting any school of interest before you remove them from you list based on other people’s opinion.

As a parent of an SDSU, I assure you that you will be able to find your tribe.

@Gumbymom thank you so much! Your comment took off a lot of stress about attending this school in particular. Unfortunately I don’t have the time or money to travel down to SD but I will take your word for it!

You will find your people wherever you go! Sometimes it take a little awhile – but every day in college you will be closer and closer to finding your tribe.

Good luck!

Shy quiet and studious. You’ll find your friends easily.

Heck. Sounds like the same personality profile for mark Zuckerberg and bill gates. I’ll bet on you being just fine.

Privatebanker I take your point but didn’t both Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg drop out of college (Harvard) end of sophomore year? Perhaps not the best examples of collegiate bliss:)

One of mine partied on weekends, the other went to the library, where there were lots of other kids around. Or she followed her other interests. Same college. It is possible for all sorts to find their types. You might take a look at clubs and other activities that interest you and where you can meet like minds.

@nocreativity. Yeah. That is true. They probably could have really used those last two years to make it big!

Ok OP. Let’s say Warren Buffet and the Dali Lama
