I was told that Brown looks favorably on applicants who are siblings of current or former students, especially in the ED round. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

Siblings are considered legacy applicants, and that can help. Brown says that legacy doesn't help more in ED than in RD -- I've known many legacies to be accepted in the RD round.

Yup, you're considered a legacy with a sibling at Brown, but as sly said, it's just normal legacy type status.

"just normal" legacy status = 40% chance of acceptance...

Still have to have the goods, bobbobbob.

Not 40% -- more like 30%.

interesting and good for me! my sister was a Brown Bear (and my parents paid full tuition for 4 years which is a factor) so that can only help!

no...its around 37-40% on a given year. I'm sure of it.

Sorry bob, I've seen the stats often enough to know it is not as high as 37 to 40 percent. Last year the legacy acceptance rate was around 32 percent.

...care to share your source then?

i found a source that looks extremely official from Brown's Alum website:

BAA - ACAP: Building the list: Brown

From the class of 2010, ED applicants w/ alumni relation had a 39% acceptance rate. Not half bad!
