Sibling attending the school- Beneficial?

Hello, I'm currently attending BU, and I am planning to apply to USC as an architecture major. I already have 3.5 gpa and my portfolio is almost ready. In addition, I have my older brother, who is currently attending USC as a management major. I heard if I have a sibling or relative attending the that school, then it would be beneficial to my application status. However, my concern is that my brother's current gpa is 1.83. So,.. because my brother is not doing so well in USC, would it make my application status look bad if I wrote about my brother? because I thought about the possibilities that the school might think that because my brother isn't doing so well, I won't do well in that school either. So, can any one give me advice whether I should write about my stupid brother on my application? or not?

I wouldn’t bring it up. How strong of a student was he in high school?

he went to high school in China, and came to SMC right after high school graduation. But, he did well in SMC, but really sucked during high school year…

Well, you have 2 totally different majors in my opinion. You obviously have the higher stats. I don’t think it should influence their decision. Good luck, though! PS, where would you mention him anyways?

they ask that when i submit my application.

Gotcha. Um, I still wouldn’t mention him. You seem like a strong student. They know how different people are. There are TWINS that are like night and day. I don’t think it would influence it too much. If you think it’s necessary, then say something.

thx a lot iStabBunnies and it helped alot!!! :)

No problem, & good luck again! :)
