How much does this factor into the admission process?

Anyone whose parents/siblings got into a school but you didn't?

My sister got into an accelerated program & i want to go to that school, but I'm just worried because she did better than me academically.

Definitely can't hurt you. They aren't going to compare your applications.

Siblings doesn't really make a difference in terms of helping. Parents can make a difference, but it's usually to the school...not to the program. If the school has a place on the application to check-off or list relatives who went to the school you can write it there (they don't care about uncle, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, etc.).

Oh so the fact that my sister got in won't really have any good effect on my chances of getting accepted ? :(

Why would it? They aren't going to let you become a doctor just because your sibling was qualified.

U can say the same thing about parents

they're not going to let one become a doctor just becase his/her parents were qualified

Right. Which is why legacy means almost nothing for regular med school admissions.

Whether it helps for BS/MD programs is debatable.

I don't think having siblings or parents at the school would help if you don't have the Stats to support your application. However, if your stats are excellent and qualify you, having a family member within the program can only be a plus.
