Sick for SAT

Got out of hospital after bad virus last night, took SAT today because wanted to make deadline for EA. Should I use the space on the app re extenuating circumstances to provide context or is it lame? I REALLY have been very sick for past two weeks.

ditch EA and re-take the test later, when you're up to par?

Have obviously considered that but Y is absolute first choice and application completely finished except for possible underperformance on tests today. Can it really be that bad to add in a line in the area they provide to let them know the situation? It won't be a sob story, just another piece of information. Seems gutless, never mind disappointing to scuttle the whole thing over an unknown.

Alternatively, could have my school counsellor mention it in the rec. But why is that any better than just saying it myself?

November test date works too...

ok, the suggestion i have is that you include a brief line about being sick on the testing occasion, and (if it's possible to send additional SAT scores after the EA deadline) that you will make sure to supplement the application with the later score as soon as you can. that would be a way to keep the tone more positive.

they don't want excuses.

thanks- that's a good idea. have to save november date for subject tests.

I'd have your counselor be the one to note it so you don't sound like you're making excuses. If the November test date works, sign up now.

I don't think you should include it. It will sound like a really lame excuse. They don't give an f if you were sick. Anyone could say that and they'd never know if it were the truth. You should have budgeted more test dates just in case.

However, as AA mentioned, if you're going to do it, have your counselor note it.

are you a senior, and this was your only time taking the SATs?

I think it's a bad excuse, you could have taken it last year

Didn't know I wanted to go to college in America last year. Anyway, thanks for advice.

Sorry for being a bit rude..
