Sick Roommate... UGH

Ok, so I live in an apartment with four other girls. We have three bedrooms. Two bathrooms. One shower. A vanity in our hall with two sinks. And a kitchen, where we share all the dishes. No dishwasher.

One of the girl is sick. It's been going around campus. She started feeling like crap today, and from what I've gathered, it works into vomiting within the next few days, if she has what her friends have.

I do not want to be sick. Any advice on keeping the germs to just her? She's already the messy have-her-crap-everywhere roommate who can't wipe down counters. Also, my roommates epically fail at dishes. They always have crap on them, even after "washed".

Stay out of the apartment as much as possible to limit contact. Close your bedroom door and get an air cleaner (preferably one with a UV light). Take vitamins and eat well to keep your immune system in tip-top shape and get plenty of rest. Wash your hands after touching anything in the apartment (who knows what she touched) and don’t touch your face, eyes or nose.

Hope you stay well. :)

Carry around some hand sanitizer and use it after touching door handles and anything else around campus. Avoid touching your mouth area if your hands aren’t freshly cleaned. Hopefully your roommie stays in her room, but if not then like robotbldmom said, stay away from the apartment as much as possible.

wash your hands, and dry them well. Clean surfaces well with a good bleach based cleaner (not straight bleach!!). The clorox wipes are great for that. Wash dishes frequently, and ask your room mate to limit her dish use to one set that no one else touches until she is better. If she can not do that, do that for yourself…keep your dishes seperate.

As robotmom said, try to keep your hands off of your face.

wear gloves.
