The Joys of College Life

Last night, I return home from the library at 12 am to find one guy blacked out on the floor. Apparently, my roommate had quite a few friends over for a party.

Not more than ten minutes after I sat down, the guy puked on the floor and left a 3 ft diameter circle of his stomach contents on the carpet.

Any ideas on what to use for clean up? This place is starting to stink. I already stuck all his clothing into the washer and emptied the trash.

TIA.

Ewww! You're just sitting there, letting it turn your room into a toxic waste dump. Gross! Clean it up ASAP, and lay down the law with your roomie. I don't know how you're staying so calm, I'd be furious with my rommmate if she let people come over and party in our room. And why are you washing his clothes??? I say throw them in the hall or the trash and forget about them.

Get some really great carpet cleaning stuff from Walmart; that's the best you can do short of calling professional carpet cleaners.

If you're in a dorm, then you (well, technically this guy or your roommate, but y'know) should be in charge of the, um...initial stages of cleaning. But you might be able to get in touch with Maintenance or Housekeeping, let them know that someone was sick in your room, and ask if they can do a deeper clean. Depending on where you go to school, odds are good that they'll be able to wash the area.

Resolve works wonders

ahahaha thats disgusting.

Put baking soda over the spot where he threw up and leave it there overnight, or even for a few days. It absorbs odours pretty well. It does work better if you do it right away, but try it anyways.

my roommate puked all over my apartment too, luckily she mostly did it over the kitchen sink (still disgusting, that's where I make my food!) and then she threw up all over her bed. Luckily it didn't get in my area so I didn't get to clean any of that up. I feel so bad for you though, make your DAMN ROOMMATE CLEAN IT UP!!

a small wet/dry vac to get most of it up, then a old towel to get the rest, then that carpet cleaner with the brush built into the top of the bottle to get rid of the stain.

and you can never have enough febreze...

Who blacks out before 12?

Carpet cleaner. Make the drunk kid pay for it, or at least your roommate.

Couldn't wait for him, I couldn't stand the odor.

Which one, the spray or the foam? I'll go pick some up tomorrow.

He did, which involved picking up all the "chunks" and letting it dry. What a half-ass job. Yuck! He said he'll pay for some carpet cleaner.

lol that sucks

WHY did you wash his clothes?! That's his job...not yours. Too nice. Have him clean it up.

College life sucks, man.

try grad school

"Who blacks out before 12?" - Jumbosox

Hahahaha that's funny. Distracted me from wondering why this kid was at the library at midnight.

It doesn't matter if his clothes smelled like crap, its still not your responsibility. I would've thrown it out the window/stuck it in the trashcan/trash chute/ or would've just thrown it out the door (along with the owner of the clothes)

I would try to move out...

The only Resolve I've ever used is the spray. Last time we used it for puke we dried it up a bit with a bunch of old towels, Resolved it, dried it, then vacuumed.

The odor was gone in a few hours.
Good Luck to ya mate.

cover it with newspaper

Put damp baking soda on it and let it sit for a few hours. Then vacuum it up. It's always worked for me.

When Febreze isn't enough, Lysol Disinfectant Spray works good to kill odors (and germs).
