I'm trying to organize my high school schedule so that I can take all the AP classes required for the Siemens AP award. I was just wondering: do you have to take AP Physics B before you take AP Physics C? Thanks for any input.

nope you don't need physics b.
does anyone know what the 'composite score' is? (the one used as tiebreaker)

thanks, lostincode.
I think the composite scores are like SAT, PSAT, and ACT scores.

Does anyone know any good self-study AP books for Environmental Science?

Also, is it okay for me to take AP Chemistry without taking normal honors chemistry first? Will it be hard for me to understand the material?
I have a 100 in Honors Biology, so I hope my teacher will recommend me to AP Chemistry.

Thanks.

Well I jumped from regular Chemistry Sophomore Year into AP Physics B Junior Year, and I'm not doing so well in Physics right now.

Do you think I'd be able to pull off an A in AP Chem with no chemistry background?

Shouldnt be that hard, depends on your class though

AP chem in my school is the first year chemistry class, so it should not be too difficult for you.

bump.....................

At my school, regular chem has to be taken before AP chem. I definitely think AP Chem will be a lot harder for you if you don't take regular chem first, but if you put in the effort, you'll do well.

I wonder if AP chem is normal for a sophomore?

I took it and 5'ed it as a sophomore

Okay, so which do you recommend as a sophomore: AP Biology or AP Chem?

I can take either one if I manage to test out of Chemistry. I can't take both either since I've already decided to take Honors Physics next year.

Probably Bio

I see. Thanks.

Still, I'm kinda leaning toward chemistry because I might be the first one at my school to take AP Chem as a soph--some lucky people get waivers and take AP bio as sophs though. I might change my mind later though.

haha, your shooting for that too... i already designed my schedule to it (wish I took one more AP this year, though).

IRT the topic starter, strictly speaking you don't have to take Physics B before you take Physics C. At my school they make you take Physics B before taking Physics C, though, and I don't know how they do it at your school. However, I would say that taking Physics B is helpful because it gives you a good introduction to Physics. If you already know some stuff about Physics and you feel like you have a reasonably good grasp of the stuff you'll study in Physics C (mechanics+electricity/magnetism), and you're decent at basic calculus, I'd say go ahead and skip Physics B. Physics C is a lot more fun than Physics B if you really like math and physics, too. Hope that was helpful.
