<p>I'm trying to find a topic for the Siemens competition, how have others found their topic. Did you get help from your mentor if it was a college professor, or did you just straight think it up?</p>
<p>I’m struggling with this as well. One suggestion that I’ve seen its to look at papers on google scholar and to try to extrapolate from things that interest you.</p>
<p>The hardest part about research is devising a topic. I personally spoke with my mentor about possible ideas and we reached a consensus.</p>
<p>So should I find a general field then a mentor then a specific topic?</p>
