I applied for the Siemens Research competition (DIFFERENT from AP Siemens) this year, and results come out this Friday. In the event that I am not named a semifinalist or regional finalist, is it worth putting on the common app that I applied for the Siemens competition?

No. Only awards and test scores matter for college admissions. In fact, this failure will be a DETRIMENT to your applications. Colleges aren’t interested in losers with no technical skills…

I’m TOTALLY kidding! Of course you should put it on the common app. Describe your research and why it interested you. Make comment on possible improvements. Upload the abstract if you have one or talk about it in your essays. Sometimes we learn more by NOT winning. Good luck! :)
