mr_chipset, don't be ridiculous: Math is numero uno. :)

Oasis: I really doubt that. You'll be fine. :)

mr_chipset, don't be ridiculous: Math is numero uno. :)

Oasis: I really doubt that. You'll be fine. :)

Yeah that's what I've been telling myself -- I still feel a little bit edgy about all these technicalities.

Good luck to you too! I'm in the process of printing all 3 of my copies off the comp right now (so much paper!) LOL. =p

Oasis: I wouldn't recommend trying to bend the rules that far. 1.5 spacing or 10 pt font is noticeable to people (especially on pages without figures), and unless your work is so incredibly breakthrough I think it will be a turn off that you couldn't adhere to the limits. Condense?

Just 2 days ago I noticed that the standard font in latex is 10 point...actually. My spacing is right, however. I had tried to condense my report but my adviser had told me that there will probably be a lot of people submitting latex reports of size 10 (after all, it's the standard font in latex) and that if I tried to cut my report down any further, it will only do more harm to my argument than good. He says I should just try and go for it -- being a competition reader for ISEF, he said that as long as it isn't flagrantly bad (going over the page limit by 10 pages), judges usually let these little things go.

I really hope what he says is true...=/

Well, I feel better now.
Thanks zogoto, hehe.

wow. you guys sure have a lot of crap to talk about. I'm looking at my 12 pages double spaced Times 12 font with a lot of pictures and not knowing what to add. is it a math thing or a general consensus to fill all 20 pages with as much info as possible?
im doing bio by the way

Hypothetical Question: :)
If I were to drop off my research project at FedEx Thursday 8 AM and use the Overnight Delivery option, it would definitely reach Collegeboard by Friday, right?

crap, is there a standard font size/ spacing for math papers? lol, I still have to finnish mine before friday. Do you guys know how many projects are submitted? Is the team catagory more competitive than the individual? Thanks

By the way, which latex tools do you guys use?
TeXnic Center+XEmacs :)

H20Poloer: Because of limited and constrained conditions on the upper bound of the paper's pagination certain measures must be undertaken, enforced, or otherwise executed in order to present as little information as possible in the aforementioned prescribed supremum of twenty pages.

mr_chipset: I run latex in emacs.

So how long has everyone been working on their papers? I started right before summer, it's amazing how fast time goes when you're working on a big project. Especially two weeks before it's due.

zeta, your project sounds pretty complex, did you research at RSI or at an university?

i did my paper/research over summmer but i'm revising it now lol

i'll probably revise it more and put more detail into it as the year goes on

coolphreak, where did you go over the summer?

i did uc santa barbara research mentorship program

kyzan...did you do your project anywhere? or at home?

my projects in previous years (for other competitions; it's my first time doing siemens) i did by myself...so it's a change doing it with a mentor....the good part is that the majority of the work was finished over summer and i won't have to take time from school to finish my work ...

Texniccenter + miktex. Texniccenter is fairly easy to use.

I actually had the entire project written out on paper before the summer began, but since I was in the states for six weeks this summer, I didn't have time to start latexing the project. School started a week after I got back and I suddenly had a LOT of hw (why are they dumping everything on us in our SENIOR year?!) so the whole latexing took a long time.

I sent everything off today...crossing my fingers that the 10 font won't hurt me! It cost more than $35 USD to send the whole package to America via DHL, so Americans, be thankful...very thankful =p

I didn't go to RSI or anything, it was just me and my pad of paper. I did have an excellent mentor, unfortunately he was gone all summer. Oh well, I survived.

I just sent mine project in today..... I finished at 6 AM in the morning. :)

I hope I'll hear good news in three weeks. :)

heh i'm sending mine in tomorrow morning....talk about last minute lol

I am sending mine on saturday, so many things to include but so little space...i wonder how many math papers they are getting XD

are you on the east coast or west^

i'm on the west
ugh...my mentor is out of hte country...so i couldn't get an "original" copy of hte mentor form...they siemens people said i can mail it next week though lol

oh...my confirmation is like 2/3 "original" my partner goes to a different school so she faxed me the form with her signature...my signature and my assistant principal's are "real" though...hope they don't care...
