Siemens?

I second that. The wait is unbearable (even if I know what the outcome will be).

Ok for the semifinalists who got a letter from Siemens congratulating them and bought today's USA Today just to see their name: where is it in the newspaper?

Why buy USA Today if they're going to send us the ad anyway?

they will send you "USA Today" + something like iPod.

i was excited and also i needed a newspaper article for something for school so yeah

The only reason this week will go quickly is because:
1. I have quantum mechanics midterm
2. I have an abstract algebra midterm
3. I'm supposedly applying to Caltech this week
I still can't wait though.

Wait, they call the winners on Friday? Wouldn't it be easier to just post the results on Friday?

prob not. b/c then the people who don't make it (like me!) will not feel as rejected this way...

I dunno, I think I'd rather be rejected earlier rather than later.

Btw, does anyone know approximately how many teams there are?

How do you find time to do these things? I mean, good job I admire you, but I don't get it.

I used the summer. It so happens that I am still working on the same problem in more depth than I did in my Siemens submission (it's theoretical & I use my computer, so it's not like I need to spend many hours in a lab). During the school year I have very little time for research but I still like to do it if I have some time here and there.

Putting a summer into a research competition like the Siemens can be a real risk - there is always the chance of ending up empty-handed in terms of awards. Therefore it is important that the experience itself be reward enough; otherwise, a summer spent on research could be a summer wasted.

semis here. haven't been called yet, so im sure i didn't make the cut. anyway, congrats to everyone else who made it and good luck to our prospective regional finalists!

I suspect it is a lot of RSI hype. Remember that no matter who you are, there is always some kid who nobody knows who has been sitting for 5 years ponding stuff and will emerge a genius. Always.

i think that's who they're talking about... >_<

I don't doubt the RSI kids. I'm guessing they all did individuals? It'll be interesting to see how they progress in the competition though.

hold up, has anyone gotten a call for regional finalists?

i think the calls come out around friday.

vanilea!!! congrats and good luck! and congrats to all 15 rsi semifinalists! and everyone else who made it for that matter :)

ok, gotta go work on intel

do they call on cell or home?

home!!!!!!!!

anybody got the call yet?!?
