Hi CC,

I enjoy math and I want to join a math team or compete in competitions outside of school. The problem is, I don’t know how to join a team or start competing. Have any of you done math competitions outside of school before? What programs were they a part of? Who told you about them? Is it team- based or are you against other individuals? Do you prepare together, in a class, or alone (hopefully a team)? I know I have a lot of questions, but I really want to be a part of something like this outside of the classroom, and I’d appreciate hearing about more than one math program so I can explore my options.

Usually its in small groups of 3-4, the size varies. However, there are individual math competitions that require different levels of math.

I would really like to know the names of specific math programs that have chapters and competitions around the country so I can dig deeper into those. Any help would be appreciated.
