Signing the Application?

I am doing a bunch of Early Action and Early Decision applications.
Do all of the have to be signed?
If so, how do I sign them if I do the common app or online app?

Um... you can't do a bunch of EA and ED.

You sign an agreement that says that you WON'T be applying to any other schools when you apply Early Decision. I'm pretty sure they have a right to rescind your admittance if they find out you broke the agreement.

And they will use that right too.

wow, now that is a deep understanding the admissions process... :)

"You sign an agreement that says that you WON'T be applying to any other schools when you apply Early Decision."

if you apply somewhere ED you can still apply else where EA. just pull all of your other applications if you get into a school ED.

But ED is always single-choice, EA is usually single-choice

esrajay: why don't you list your schools and what you are planning on applying under and we can clarify it better for you

no there are only 3 single-choice EA schools - stanford, harvard, and yale

What's the difference between single-choice EA and ED? It doesn't seem like there's really any difference at all, as the real benefit (in my mind, at least) of EA is the fact that you get to know of an acceptance early without the worries of a binding application.

I am apply ED to emory and the rest are EA. Sorry for the confusion!

SCEA is non-binding. ED is binding. Basically both are for people who have one school that is their first-choice. However, SCEA still offers you to apply to other schools and compare financial aid packages.

Esrajay, as long as you are not applying to stanford, harvard, or yale, it is absolutely OK to sign off on everything. Good luck with Emory.

I wanted to know about how do I sign when I do an application online?
Thanks for the replies.
And by the way, there are more than 3 single choice early action programs. Georgetown is a SCEA and I'm sure there are a couple more you must have left off.

You don't literally sign it if it's online. You either just click the agreement, or type your name.

Oh ok, I was thinking I had to print, sign, and then mail. Thank you zantedeschia

For some schools you DO need to print out a form, and have it signed by you, your GC and the parents, so make sure to check that, at least for the ED school.

Yea I find it kind of silly to have a box that says "type your name here" as if that works the same as a signature...
