I have been accepted to both Universities. My parents would like me to go to SFU because i'm a Canadian Citizen ann I also got a scholarship there so my first year is completely paid. Second Year and onwards, I can get a co-op and pay for a good chunk of the fees so, basically I save a lot of money if I go to SFU. But, University of Washington is a world renown university and is known as a "public-ivy" school. My parents are able to pay for UW, but they, of course, prefer SFU since its much cheaper.

How is the engineering science reputation at SFU? Do a lot of relatively known international companies come to its career fairs?

How are the academics at SFU? I'm not a big believer in one school being better than another in academics. I believe that schools just have different reputations, and UW definitely has a better reputation, but that's not a big reason for me to choose it.

What I am concerned about is the social aspect of colleges. I live in Bellevue, WA, about 15 minutes away from UW and have visited it several times. It's an extremely lively place and looks like I will a lot of fun there. The campus is also super beautiful. So, how is SFU's social life? Is the community lively? How is the community vibe there?

I believe that I will become a big-shot successful man whichever college I decide to go to, even if its a community college, as long as I work hard enough. The only deciding factor for me are things not related to academics like social life, residence halls, community, professors, etc. So, how are the professors at SFU (especially in engineering-science)? And the students? Are they nice, kind, welcoming, and all that good stuff? I've heard a lot about SFU being a very "dull" and "boring" school. Is that true?

I would greatly appreciate any help in making my decision!
