just got accepted this morning
Congrats @debate4ever! That’s great! I see you applied to several summer programs. Are you letting them know your intentions to do simons or withdrawing other applications?
@jamini I’m really conflicted! I love Simons but if I get accepted to SSP it would be financially easier to go to ssp. However, research is what i want to do. but simons is a bit expensive even with the stipend cause i’m out of state.

wait guys i reread my email, it didnt guarantee acceptance but implied it. More of a likely letter than an acceptance

I got a “likely letter” this morning as well. Acceptance was implied.
is the “likely letter” people are talking about the usual email that’s sent out at feb. for placing students with professors?

i’m not sure. In the email it said, although we cannot send official acceptances until later in march when most of the decisions would be made, we certainly look forward to seeing you this summer

I hope this doesn’t mean that people who didn’t receive that email are not accepted…

applied math/biophysics yes i contacted mentor ahead of time with a resume and he said he would take me
and no, i think only a few decisions are made so far
Curiosity- should we update Simons with awards?
Some results are coming out like usapho semis and i’m not sure if they count as “Important updates”
the email said something along the lines of “we won’t be sending out official notices for a couple of weeks, but we look forward to seeing you.”
If the email came from Simons I would expect an eventual acceptance. If the email came from Stony Brook, they may be hoping you’ll come for the summer whether or not you’re accepted to Simons.

Great news @Lim15787. I’d be cautiously optimistic if I were in your shoes.
^^ Simons is sending out likely letters which are pretty much guarantees of acceptances. They are still in the process of doing this.
@multiverse7 How did you know “they are in the process of doing this”? Did you talk/email them?
