<p>Has anyone applied to this program this year? I did. I'd like to hear some personal opinions or experiences if you've gone. I'm very interested in bio-psychology and neuroscience, so thats the research I signed up for.</p>

<p>yea, im still waiting....wait.....were we supposed to find a mentor or do they just randomly assign us</p>
<p>I think we all get notified of acceptance on April 1st. I tried to find a mentor for the program; I emailed a whole bunch of stonybrook faculty but they all promised students already or weren't doing the program. They will assign you someone if you didn' find one.</p>
<p>oh great..... did u perhaps ask anyone in the chem department? i always knew these people needed connections... sigh, connections get u whatever you want these days.</p>
<p>Nah, I signed up for psychology or biology.. wish now I made it more specified. But I think they might pick for you based on your essay answers. Yeah.. I wish i had connections already. It would make things easier.</p>

i've been hearing so many mixed reports about this program. I wish someone would just give like a definitive answer!!!!</p>
<p>a lot of people me it was amazing, but 75% of the time, the people who get in already have connections there (ex. talked the prof., been working there previously, etc).... i'm getting really anxious)</p>
<p>yea me too.. i didn't have any prior research experience, but i have a 4.0 gpa, had great reccomendations, and rocked the application. Ive heard of people who have got in without prior experience if they seemed adequate.. guess all we can do is wait and see. i hope i get in! i dont have any other summer plans.. rather do this than work at Quiznos sub!!! lol</p>
<p>another thing i want to know is if its going to be us watching/helping the professor do their research or us doing the research!!!</p>

<p>do we get to pick like a specific area or topic we would like to work on because i really would like to work on quantum chromodynamics but i asked for general placement in physics!!!</p>
<p>no we get a couple of choices of professors (if many prof are interested in you)--- u talk to them and choose.... sometimes, some people only have one prof interested in them, so either u choose to work with them or u don't go to the program at all</p>
<p>despite that, i really hope all of us get into the program, it would be an interesting experience!!!</p>
<p>I hope I can choose a professor whos work Im interested in.. I didnt specify exactly what i wanted either, I just also just asked for general placement in psychology or biology. I hope we all get in too! It does sound like a great experience.. About 3 weeks left to wait for the answer.</p>
