This forum's gotten a lot more action over the past couple of days thanks to the massive influx of people who wish to inform us of their acceptances, deferrals, or denials.

Frankly, I'm not all that interested in your SAT scores, but I'd love to hear more about your personalities / lives. So, tell me something interesting about yourself. I'd also be happy to answer questions about myself / my time as a student here.

I'll start:

I'm a junior in Electrical Engineering here at Caltech. My favorite movie is Gladiator, my favorite color is green, and my favorite book is "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. I work in a really awesome nanofabrication lab for an even more awesome professor, Axel Scherer.

Since stories are so much more fun than lists, I will tell a story about myself.

When I was a little kid, I was a troublemaker. Hell, I still am. Anyway, when my mom would put me to bed at night, she'd tuck me in, turn out the lights, and leave. Of course, almost immediately I'd get out of bed and turn the light back on and start playing, even though I knew I wasn't supposed to. My mom would come back in, punish me, and put me back to bed. I was stubborn enough that this went on for an hour or so every night for a couple of weeks.

At this point, my mom was feeling pretty bad about having to punish me so much, so she went to ask one of her friends for advice. "What if he's just afraid of the dark?" her friend said. My mom was horrified of the possibility that she was punishing me for being afraid of the dark, so she asked her friend, "How do I find out?" "Just take out the light bulb. If he's afraid of the dark and the light doesn't work, he'll freak out." her friend replied.

That night, my mom put her friend's plan to the test. She put me to bed as usual and stood outside my room, ear pressed to the door. Very shortly she heard the pitter-patter of little feet, and her pulse quickened with anticipation of the screaming to come. I flicked the light switch two or three times, softly proclaimed "bwoken", and went back to bed.

Yeah, I was a stubborn bastard. I'd like to think that I only retain the positive aspect of this personality trait, but that's just not the truth :P
