I am 26 and a stay-at-home mother of three children under 4 years old. I have BA in Business and am faced with the prospect of providing for the family (husband is no longer here).

In considering a future in medicine I realize I would need to do a Post-Bacc program before med school and then everything else after. The road ahead looks long and demanding, but I know that I would enjoy going to work for the next 40 years.

Is this irresponsible? With the time away from my kids and the debt incurred. Because of the children I would have additional debt in childcare, mortgage, education, activities, etc. Is this crazy? Am I crazy? Should I be considering an MBA instead?

Your children are at a critical point in their development. Who will raise them for you while you are in school? Family members? Complete strangers?

Going to school and raising three children alone is a major challenge for anyone. Pursuing medical school basically means abandoning your family at a time when dad is also "out of the picture." Even though your intentions may be honorable, it just does not seem fair to the children,

Med school for me would only be a possibility once the kids were in school full-time. (2-3 yrs) But, I think I need to move in a different direction.
