This has no bearing on my decision (I am going to Brown), but out of curiosity: do sophs, juniors, and seniors usually get singles? What is the housing like for all classes?

Yes, you can get a single.

They use a lottery system after freshman year.

Haha....well...maybe you should wait until you get here to talk on that one....You will come to know the devil that is the housing lottery.....

Unfortunately it is very difficult for underclassmen to get a single. Sophmores are very much screwed in the housing lotto, I think 20% end up with a single or a single in a suite.

It is really no fun until you are a junior.

My brother got a kickass suite when he was a sophomore. No single, but it was huge, and he said it was senior class housing.

I def want a roommate as a frosh (and I have no choice, haha), but I would probably want a single as a soph and def as a junior/senior.
