Oops-- I didn't see your whole post. A bone has been thrown- and in today's p.c. climate , we have to be careful who touches who.

In the 2nd verse.. after all the walking on water stuff... it ends with "And you know that you can trust him
'Cause he's touched your perfect body with his mind".
Then,
-- the third verse ends with "cause she's touched you and she's moved you and she's kind".
So it looks like everyone touches everyone.....

It's funny, as I am sure others have already remarked, that I cannot remember the name of someone I just talked to yesterday, at least for 30 seconds of fumbling trying to access the data, I cannot always remember just where I am going, I can never remember that this Monday when I scheduled a meeting at night was the same Monday as I was going to the trade show, and yet, I can remember the exact color of the hills in Northern California come September, and the exact shape of my beige VW station wagon, and the exact path to the boys' dorm rooms, and Kat Steven's songs whole verses at a time.

Late entry; can't cover all the possibilities. While I remember a number of the female things I never had any of them.
Skate key: everyone had them; otherwise we couldn't use our skates.
Duck & Cover Drills: we had 'em - it was during the Korean War. For some reason there was a fear that the Chinese Communists would attack us - in New York.
Speaking of duck, we did not drink Cold Duck. However, we did have Cold Bear -and the later at night, and the colder the Bear, the better. Later came injected watermelons with holes drilled for straws.
The Beatles: out of college and working when they appeared.
I think I had a pair of Wallabies at one time. But more memorable were the Dingo Boots that I got because a friend had them - they looked cool and were really comfortable.
English Leather - once had a girlfriend who was crazy about it.

Put me at the head of the old geezers (is "old geezers" redundant?) line, please, or as we call it where I came from, the AK group.

I went to a yardsale yesterday and came home with (for a buck a piece) CD's by: Jimi hendrix (Pur0ple haze...) The Kinks's (LoLa), Dylan (Nashville Skyline), and Rod Stewart (Maggie May...)
My weekend was made.

dadofsam - someone older than me for the Beatles! woohoo! (I think I must have known this from our "you know you're old when..." thread. ) But I was feeling a little too - er - mature, on this thread. Glad for the companionship. Still - other than musically and even somewhat there - we seem to be sharing nostalgia across a number of decades here in the Happy Hour.

When the selective party season starts, we're developing quite a menu.
Wine tastings of Cold Duck, Boone's Farm, Mateus, Lancers, Korbel (perhaps some of them will be mercifully unavailable).
Munchies to include: Taylor's Pork Roll, scrapple, any foods delivered directly to the home by a "____man" (egg man, milkman...)
Non-alcoholic beverages of Bosco, Orange Crush...

The women will be self-selecting into small groups around men wearing Canoe, Brut, English Leather depending on the particular puppy love they are trying to resurrect.

I'll leave the music and fashion to others, but I know Greybeard will be wearing a dickie.

Afterthought: we'll probably need to extend this to a full week-end to allow time for roller skating, making lanyards to hold our skate keys, bicycle decorating contest with clothespins, etc. and ensuing parade. Hope none of us have any of those "strict" parents from the Senior Week thread who won't let us go.

Us wolf raised feral folks will be there- Romi, Remi, and me! All I need is fresh water, and for someone to throw me a bone now and again. And it's pretty clear ain't no one going to be driving around the LAC looking for me (how awful would that be?).

so it's not just me?! I forget between the bottom of the stairs and the top why I was going upstairs!

TaraMom - How are you! Just wanted to say your thread about your D and H and the decision was really wonderful, has stayed with me. And welcome to Geezer Central. What does AK mean?????

Wow SBMom, You can translate Yiddish and French! I'm always impressed with multilinguists. I'm currently learning to understand Curmudgeonese. Challenging, but enjoyable and worth the effort. ;)

Here's a party game for jmmom to add to her list. From the 60's revival party I went to a few weeks ago (where they played Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne" until someone said "make it stop"):
How about 60's protest slogans? You know, like Make Love, Not War?

I brought a placard that said "Draft Beer, Not Boys" and the other side said "Dow Shalt Not Kill" (you know, Dow Chemicals? napalm? Yeah, nobody else remembered it either.)

Hey Alumother--we're good, thanks. The issue may be over, but not forgotten by any of us, and the volcano still smokes and rumbles occasionally. Graduation was wonderful, maybe I'll post something about it.

Another way D recently reminded me that I've reached geezerhood is that I sit down when I need to retie my shoe. I guess I could just stop and bend over but sitting just seems more graceful and (I hate to admit) comfortable now.

I on the other hand, can laugh at her every time she thinks she's hearing a great new song and I tell her it's a cover of a '60s song. Ahh the memories of Buffalo Springfield, Yardbirds, Motown and yes almost anything Phil Spector did--there will never be music like we had in the '60s......

No, I made D try on her dress and walk back and forth outside with the sun behind her (a wonder her eyes didn't actually roll out of her sockets and down the steps) and I decided it was adequate without a slip.

For my next daring move--I bought some body makeup at Mac, used it on my legs and went to her graduation with nice sandals and no stockings. But only because it's June. Hose will be worn after Labor Day. As D remarked, I was probably the role model for Emily Gilmore.
