Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

Pictures. We want pictures.

Bicycle parade? You mean like the Solistice Parade down in Fremont? I bet those guys will be happy to join our block party!

AAGGHH!!! I thought things were going smoothly, with both s’s flying to different locations today. However (and if you want to skip the rest of this post- jump to my “cry for help” thread I started about getting grom Chicago Midway to Milwaukee-- wait, on second thought - I need all of your help- I’ll repost it here) :

I think younger s made it to his destination (that or, since he now has one of my credit cards, he changed his flight to Vegas or something.. I wouldn’t put it past him) but older s is stuck sitting in our airport . He’s been sitting down there all day- having arrived from his new home town. Too bad I am stuck at the office- I’d love to go down and see him. However, since TSA already hassled him once today, don’t need to risk that again. It’d be nice to have him stuck here til tomorrow so I could spend my b’day with him, but I suspect that’s not hight on his priority list. And this was his first business trip with nis new job. AGHH. Pour me a double please. Hmmm, maybe someone can lend them one of their bicycles for the upcoming parade and he can ride with streamers and baseball cards clipped to the spokes to Milwaukee…

Hmmmm, I need some help putting up the festive decorations for jym626’s Sinner’s Alley B-day party which will begin promptly at 12 a.m. EST regardless of whether anyone’s here. Volunteers? I’ve already spread a large bucket of popcorn on the floor under the booths.

Well, I’ve already woven crepe paper through the spokes of all the bicycles parked out front.

I think that spices up the place for jym’s bday. She can take the bicycle she likes best for S1 to make his way to Milwaukee. He might get there before his plane does, anyway. The rest of the bikes will add to the SA ambience.

If we treat them daintily, they’ll still be in good enough shape for our Bicycle Parade and Block Party next month, don’t you think?

You mean like the Solistice Parade down in Fremont?

Last year they rode by our house, I didn’t see the nekkidness, but I saw lots of costumes.
They changed the route for this year though.

I want to have a bicycle parade to kick it off, with playing cards in the spokes of my rear wheel, crepe paper woven through the spokes of my front wheel, and crepe paper streamers.
I remember those, but my H insisted on a hydroplane
[Traditional Bike-Drawn Pavement Hydros](http://www.dinosaursandrobots.com/2008/03/traditional-bike-drawn-pavement-hydros.html)

D is away at her camp job, but last night I heard the ice cream truck and made H hunt it down ( I was sore from lugging soil and rocks all day- * sore* I can barely type!), he wanted to go to the corner store, but I insisted that they taste better (and cheaper) from the truck. They do!
( I would never buy a bomb pop at the grocery, all that food coloring? , when I could buy local huckleberry ice cream from cows who are fed blue fescue on wedgwood china?- but since I didn’t actually have to go * into* a store, the food coloring doesn’t count)

I really want a stingray bike to chase after the ice cream truck with. I had to ride my brothers ( and he was younger than me- that reminds me- I need a bike)

Our block party has been going on for about OMG 15 years or so now.
( I just reminded D#1 that she started working at the camp her sister is at, * twelve* years ago- time really goes by)

We block off several streets and have all day potlucks & evening movies for the kids. Last year, we put tables right in front of my house- which was very handy. My dog loved it
( I don’t usually take her to the main area, because she barks if she isn’t getting enough attention & since she is a big, deaf, black lab, that scares some of the parents of the little kids)

Our across the street neighbor ( who is 95) came out and told stories I had never heard before, about her growing up and when she first moved to the area- it was fascinating & she is awesome- still sharp as a tack)

One year we even had a live band, courtesy of a teenage neighbor- they need to work on a vocalist ;)

Lots of younger families- although how they afford it, I will never know. But actually I guess they aren’t that much younger than me, but their kids are still in grade school so they seem younger. ( must be the food coloring)

momof3 and jmmom-
Thanks for fixin’ up the bikes. They are sure spiffy. Do they have horns , where we squeeze the rubber ball or the round metal bell with the lever to ring-ring?? Fortunatley DS didn’t need to snare wone. He caught the shuttle bus (which was, thankfully, late) and I assume he made it to Milwaukee in one piece. His phone is almost dead, so I am not sure.

We don’t have a Solstice Parade in these parts. I am looking fortward to our version of it. Whose plannin’ on streaking? Not me!!! It would be ugly. Put me down for one of those ice pops.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, jym626!

May you continue to 120. Enjoy the day.

Now wait, you’re in Texas right? So it’s two hours earlier than where I am? I can see your future. In two hours, you’ll be a year older. Wha? I mix myself up.

There are two guys throwing me off this computer. Something about sleep. What are they talking about? Where are their priorities? Happy bir t hd

a

Yikes, hope I’m not late for jym’s big party! I just looked at the invitation again and saw that I’d missed the part about it starting at 12:00 eastern time, and I slept in after staying up late to watch the fussball game and celebrate the victory (Deutschland 3, Turkei 2…yaaaaaaay!!!.. on to the finale!).

It was truly a block party around here last night–the whole town was hoppin’. Our soccer party was also a farewell party for a friend, and the host served chocolate martinis…wow, scrumptious!

Let’s have a round in honor of jym. Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Birthday!!!

p3t, if you knew how many errors I had to fix just type this short note , you would think that I started the celebration without ya’ll

Hey let’s breakout the good stuff for jym!!

Happy Birthday

Hey, we’re even going to use the swirly straws!! We’ve got sparklers, confetti, boas, and the and the “youlookreallygoodforyourage” fairy has put up a special mirror so that none of us look more than 22 (but we’re still legal).

have a fun annd blessed day, and you’re fellow thread killa’s have got your back in case you’re up to some mischief and mayhem.

wishing you many many more.

What a truly perfect way wake up- with kind greetings from all my peeps! Thanks for the kind sentiments, p3t, ReneeV and Sybb!!! I really mean it with all sincerity- I truly appreciate it.
Oh, and happy b’day to your mom too, ReneeV!

OK , enough of the mushiness. Time to drink. can we start with mimosas? P3T- I am in the same time zone as you-- not in Tx- I am in the South. So you were right all along. Don’t you just love it when you are right??

Please everyone here in SA- have a WONDERFUL day. That will be the best gift of all. Oops, I am getting sappy again. But not up to mischief and mayhem, Sybbs. I am too old for that :(

Great to see that the marmots have been here already and have tended to the decorating! ReneeV, I surely hope that you’ve got a blender-full of those chocolate martinis. Happy Birthday jym626 from your fellow TK!

Yes, yes, let’s start a new group-TKA

Ahhh-- thread killers anonymous!! I am a card carrying member! Thanks momof3!
So far I have spent my birthday correcting a report and touching up my roots. I sure know how to have a good time. You guys, thank heavens, know how to throw a Parrr-tay!!

Many MANY happy returns of the day, jym!

(putting on the SpongeBob SquarePants conical party hat and blowing the roll-out tweetie thing… do those things have actual names other than “foofer”?)

Somebody over there kick “Birthday” into action on the jukebox, will ya?!

(EDIT: Believe it or not, I read momof3sons post above as asking ReneeV if she had a bladder-ful of chocolate martinis. Sheesh.)
(Well, OK, that too. )

LOL mootie! A bladder full. I’ll lend you my reading glasses, but if I give them to you I won’t be able to see the computer monitor (we already know I can’t see the !@@@$%%^^ keyboard). I want a bladderfull of choco martinis, as long as they went down nice and smoothe en route to the bladder…

eww. TMI. Back to festivities.

Happy Birthday, Jym.
I brought water balloons and glow in the dark necklaces!

Hearing no objection to my wish to win the Block Party swimsuit contest (post #11141) to help me get over my 2nd fiddle status back in 'ought whatever when I was 5… I will start to decorate my “Miss Sinners Alley” sash.

BUT, I will pass the tiara over to jym626 RIGHT NOW, because it is

HER BIRTHDAY!

It looks great on you, jym. That was very smart of you to touch up the roots before all the photo ops. You go, girl.

Happy Birthday!!! and many many more!

Chocolate martinis sound good if we’re in the air conditioning, but if this block party/birthday bash is outdoors, make mine a Bartles & James cooler.

(Decisions, decisions…)

You say it’s your birthday
We’re gonna have a good time
I’m glad it’s your birthday
Happy birthday to you. :)

Just a brief stop in the alley to wish jym a very happy birthday!

jmmom,

You have my complete, COMPLETE support – in fact I hearby dub you the winner and still champion of the rootin’ tootin’ high falootin’ SA swimsuit and mudwrestling contest, and I hearby return to its rightful owner, the tiara, in all its glory. I’d anoint you with that beer bong hat, but I think its still under the back barstools somewhere. You wouldn’t catch me dead in a swimsuit.

And Cottonwood, mommusic, and limomof2-
Thanks for the sentiments. We are off to have dinner-- we were supposed to eat with DS #2 after he returned from his travels (still havent heard a peep from DS #1-- do they have phones in Milwaukee??) but S#2’s plane is delayed, and won’t get in til almost 9:30. Oh well. Guess he’s eating airport food. We are off to check out a new restaurant near the airport that doesn’t have its liquor license yet- so its byob!
