I applied to the UCs with a waiver, but when I try to do my SIR, it asks me to deposit $100. So how would I get a waiver for SIR? Is the waiver just the same as the fee being deterred and still taken off my FA?

We did the SIR and there was a box to check to ask for a waiver. The SIR went through and I guess we will find out when the fees come in if the waiver was approved or not.

I didn’t have a box to check to ask for waiver? What step was that in?

Sorry I it will not let me go back and check each step again. But I think I clicked to pay it and thats when I got the waiver request option.

Does it mean you don’t have to pay? or does it just deter it and take it out of your FA?

Do they even do waivers for the SIR fee?

^bump. 10char

Yes they do wavers but if you get it as I remember the response when I asked for it it will show up when your billed fo your fees. Yes it would come out of financal aid.
BTW visited the campus yesterday went to the finalcial aid dept to see if I could get some of these questions answered. They are not processing anything right now and we have to wait a month or more for the final fin. aid information
Beautiful school but long lines and huge classes.

Wow you visited the school? That’s great! What do you mean by long lines? Oh do you know if there’s a way to waive the orientation?

D wanted to change major thought I would do it while there. About 50 people in line so skipped that. The food court had huge lines at lunch time. It was the public area so probably not so bad at the student only ones. When ever I call for answers it is difficult to get through.Felt a little frustrated trying to deal ewith stuff. Her twin was accepted at USC and the easy access to every thing has us spoiled
Not sure about orientation waver can’t reserve till mid month. More frustration as they seem to be a month behind other schools with these kind of things.Still a great school and worth a few inconveniences.

To be fair to UCSB; a follow up to my last post about major change. I made the request by email and the change went into affect 7 days later. So they are on the ball and perhaps not as bad as I thought about taking care of business.
