I've arranged to sit in on a class at one college, and at the other they just said to walk in and ask the professor if it's okay. How does it work? I'm worried that I'll take someone's seat or something, lol. And do I need to bring anything? Is it okay if I just wear like shorts and a t-shirt? Sorry for all the questions, lol, I just don't know what to expect.

Don’t leave before the class is dismissed so pick wisely.

Arrive at least 5 minutes before the class. When the professor gets there, introduce yourself and ask if you can sit in. Assuming that s/he says yes, thank him/her and sit somewhere that appears to be discreet (ie, not right in front of or next to the professor). Remain for the entire class. Turn off your cell phone or anything that might ring or make noise. You don’t need to dress up unless that is the norm on the campus. You don’t need to bring anything. It would be nice to thank the professor afterwards if you can, but s/he may be engaged with students. You can judge whether s/he would like to chat with you. My S sat in on a lot of classes, and the professors ranged from completely ignoring him to engaging him in conversation about the school and giving him a syllabus for the class!
