I will be an incoming lower at Exeter next year. I was wondering what size dormitory is suggested that I should pick. I was leaning towards a house due to its small size and the ability to truly get to know all of your “house” mates. However, I am now wondering if it is suggested to request a larger dormitory as I might not be able to meet and make as many friends if I do select a house. Thank you for your help!
I’d suggest a larger dorm, which is what my son (incoming prep) also requested. I think it’s easier to meet people in a larger dorm, just by virtue of the fact there are always more people around. If you find you prefer a smaller setting, you can request a house for upper and senior years.
SwimKid likes his smaller dorm. Not as small as a house but not overwhelming like a big dorm. He thought for sure he wanted wentworth or cilley but when given the chance to move, didn’t. He spends time hanging in those dorms, but then can decompress in his own dorm. He also likes the proximity to the academic buildings. He thought he wanted to be near the athletic facilities but likes how easy it is to get to class when he oversleeps or get back to the dorm for a free during the day.
