hey everyone. i might attend Rutgers NB next year. I'm still undecided between Rutgers, TCNJ, and UConn. I can kind of scratch UConn off my list b/c its out of state and all. What i wanna know about rutgers is the classroom environment. I know everyone says its a big school and you wont be receiving personal attention and everything but, really, how big is it? specifically the freshman seminars, the introductory level courses for economics, the general education requirement classes such as english and natural sciences. if anyone can shed some light on this i'd appreciate it. thanks in advance.

what exactly do you mean by "freshman seminars"??? there are a few things you might be referring too-- could you clarify?

Intro to Econ classes will be large lectures... the difference between a 100 and a 300 person lecture is nonexistant... its a large lecture so its the same environment.

As you get to more advanced classes, enrollment spirals down and is much smaller. Intro classes are big pretty much anywhere you go (i would bet intro to econ is a large lecture at TCNJ too.) professors have office hours and are ususally helpful and nice, though not all of them are.

you get as much personal attention as you want at rutgers... noone will come and search for you and give you the attention... but if you want to talk to deans, professors, academic advisors, etc... they're all here and willing to talk to you, you just have to go and contact them.

general ed requirements are here (if you're in rutgers college, that is: ) http://www.rci.rutgers.edu/~rcoas/degreerq.htm For these, class size will depend on what classes you choose in each subject. They don't have to be big if you don't want them to be.
